History Bumitama Gunajaya Agro (BGA) originated from managing small-scale oil palm plantations in East Kotawaringin Regency, Central Kalimantan. BGA, which adhere to the principles of sustainable plantation management, managing the land area of 3000 hectares in size until the end of 2000.
In addition to organic growth, BGA also apply inorganic growth strategy of acquisitions. In 2001, BGA acquired three oil palm plantation companies namely PT Windu Nabatindo Lestari, PT Hearts Prima Agro, and PT Surya blessed.
BGA then experience significant growth until it reaches the land cultivated by more than 90,000 hectares by the end of 2009. Currently, other than in Central Kalimantan, BGA also scattered plantations in West Kalimantan, East Kalimantan and Riau.
In order to realize rapid growth step, for the period until 2015, BGA target the total cultivated area which reaches at least 200 000 hectares.
For the sake of sustainable growth, too, BGA has established strategic cooperation with IOI Corporation Bhd, the company's world-class plantations of Malaysia.
Cooperation that began in November 2007 aimed to develop oil palm plantation covering 82 350 hectares in Ketapang, West Kalimantan, through the formation of SNA Group.
The objectives of such cooperation is to accelerate the development of oil palm plantation business BGA, gaining access to technology and best management in the palm oil industry, and conduct cooperation for the development of downstream industries in the future.
IOI is a leading company in the world and received numerous global awards for their achievements, including the Global Asia 50 List.
Their market capitalization ranked second for the Malaysian palm oil industry. IOI is also the largest producer of vegetable fatty acids and is one of the most efficient oil palm in the world.
Synergy BGA and IOI is a process of combining the global strength of the IOI best practices with local knowledge-BGA, which will be one of the leading players in the oil palm industry in Indonesia.
